Another field that has been
becoming more and more important in recent years next to the restoration of
historical instruments is the conversion of existing instruments. For
communities in which the purchase of a new organ would be objectively
impossible, this is often a legitimate compromise.
In doing so, we are well
aware of the tremendous responsibility to the instrument – too much
has been irretrievably lost over the last decades due to undeliberated
actions!
Yet it is becoming more and
more apparent that several organs, especially from the 50s-70s, show
weaknesses today, which can only be solved with a consequential recess. In
this way, simply exchanging the existing aluminium action with a
wooden action will significantly increase the value of an organ by today’s
standards.
The basic adaptation of
the intonation is very often time-consuming but rewarding, and
particularly with such details, we maintain a good relationship with both
organ experts as well as with the respective heritage agencies.
More modern than ever: The
fundamental reworking of the electrical components, which become worn after
decades, is often connected to the installation of a modern system of
programmable combination pedals. The requirement here is also, as always,
the good technical condition of the rest of the organ system.
A number of organs were
already “reorganised” by us. Every time, the results are amazing anew,
to see what can be teased out of an instrument with a little effort and the
necessary know-how!
